| In 1874, the railroad arrived in Purcellville, Virginia. Today, the railroad provides one of the most exciting attractions in town. The Purcellville Train Station is located where the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) trail ends, and is within walking distance of just about any point of the town. The station itself has been completely restored, including picnic facilities and a museum. Along the railway, the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park features trails for hiking, running, biking, and horseback riding. This is certainly the place to visit for the outdoor lover. So many parks are nearby: Red Rock Overlook Regional Park, and Temple Hall Farm Regional Park, for example. One of the most charming areas of Purcellville, VA, is its historical business district. Enjoy a stroll down Main Street, and browse in its quaint shops and museums.
